Serra San Bruno owes its origin to the arrival of Monaco Bruno of Cologne, the founder of the Carthusian Order, which was given by Count Roger the Norman the territories on which to build his hermitage: the Certosa di Santo Stefano del Bosco. La Certosa is the first monastery in Italy and the second in Europe after Grenoble in France. And 'one of the two monasteries, in forty existing in Italy, to be inhabited by the Carthusian monks.
The course includes a visit to the Museum of Certosa, the Sanctuary of Santa Maria del Bosco, where you can enjoy your picnic lunch on the banks of the picturesque "lake of miracles", and a visit to some churches of the old town which houses works from the Certosa di Santo Stefano. The course, structured as a spiritual journey, historical and artistic presence on the Carthusian order in Calabria, you retrace nearly nine hundred years of history of the order founded by St. Bruno in 1091.
